Oct. 7-8: Annual Weston Applefest Celebration

Apples anyone? Spend some time in charming Weston this fall during its annual apple festival on Saturday (10 am - 6 pm) and Sunday (11 am – 5 pm). Don't miss the parade on Saturday at 10 am with antique tractors, cars, fire trucks, and music. www.westonmo.com

Oct. 13-15: Pony Express PumpkinFest

Experience this annual family arts festival in St. Joseph with festival rides, crafts, great foods, live entertainment and a children's costume parade. Don't miss the lighting of the Great Pumpkin Mountain on opening night. www.ponyexpress.org

Oct 7-8; 14-15; 21-22: Hoots and Howls at the Zoo

There may be a little spook, but nothing scary at the zoo these fun-filled days with face painting, a hay bale maze, and some not-so-scary tales for little ones. www.kansascityzoo.org

Oct. 20-21: Night of the Living Farm at Deanna Rose

This beloved annual fundraiser includes hayrides, marshmallow roasts, a haunted barn and so much more for little ones who are ready for a fun adventure. https://www.opkansas.org

Oct 19-20: Voices from the Past (Mount Mora Cemetery)

Tours of this intriguing cemetery in St. Joseph are ones you'll remember as you get the opportunity to “meet” residents of the past. Because this is one of the most popular events of the season, tickets go fast and space is limited, so reserve your spot early.

Oct. 28-29: Boo at the Zoo
