Taking the Leap

Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will.
- Suzy Kassem

Taking the leap into any new adventure is hard. It’s stepping out into the unknown where we have every opportunity to fail. And failing sucks. So we doubt, we make excuses, and we imagine the worst possible outcome.

But life is funny. It’s full of twists and turns, and sometimes the most joy comes from the opportunity of the unexpected. The unexpected can add so many amazing and beautiful layers when you open yourself up to the possibilities.

When The Scout Guide approached me last fall to launch TSG in Kansas City, I deliberated a lot. I pondered over the possibilities far longer than I usually do when I make tough decisions.  In fact, I let the fear of failing have its way with me, and almost said no. The decision finally came to light over a glass of wine with a friend.  My friend asked me how I would feel when The Scout Guide came to Kansas City, and I wasn’t a part of it? Easy answer. I’d be devastated.  So I leaped. I leaped in with both feet, and I couldn’t be happier.

I’ve leaped and fallen on my ass. I’ve also leaped and I've soared. Every time I accept a new challenge I learn more about myself, make new friends, and add another skill to my list that I never knew I had….
