How does The Real KC online shop (“The Products”) work?

The Real KC offers products from local Kansas City boutiques. New products and boutiques are added periodically and generally sell out quickly.

Do you have a physical store?
The Real KC is an online-only boutique but many of the products you see featured come from local businesses which may or may not have a store-front. 


A product I want is sold out. Can I still get it?
Generally, no. However, if you see something you love that's no longer available, email us and we'll let you know if more of those items become available. 

I can't find a product I saw last week. Where'd it go?
Products on THE REAL KC are available for a limited time. If you know the name of a specific item you are looking for (or can describe it really well), email it to us at and we’ll try to help! Occasionally we may be able to secure additional inventory.

Do you charge sales tax?
Sales tax is charged in the state of Missouri.

What payment methods do you accept?
We accept:

  • Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express

  • PayPal

I already placed an order but found something else I want to buy. Can I add that additional item to my order?
Since shipping at THE REAL KC is always free, the quickest solution is to place a new order for the additional item. 


Where does THE REAL KC ship?
We currently only ship to the United States (including all territories and APO/FPO/DPO addresses).

How much does shipping cost?
Shipping at THE REAL KC is free!

What delivery methods does THE REAL KC use? 
Most orders are shipped via USPS.

How long will it take to get my order?
The shipping & handling time frame depends on what items you order but generally you can expect to receive items within one week (unless otherwise noted). 

Will my entire order be shipped in one package?
That depends. Items purchased from the same retailer will generally ship in one package. Purchases made from multiple retailers, items will arrive separately.

How do I know if I've been charged for my order?

Credit and debit cards
As soon as your order is placed, we will capture the funds (charge your card). If any part of your order is not fulfilled, you will receive a refund.

Funds are captured from your PayPal account as soon as you place an order. Your entire order, including any applicable tax and shipping & handling fees, is charged at that time. If we are unable to fulfill any part of your order, you will be refunded directly to your PayPal account.

I placed an order. Can I cancel it?
Yes, as long as you notify us via email at within 24 hours.


What is your return policy?
In most cases we do not house the inventory and therefore cannot process returns. If something doesn’t meet your expectations, contact us at and we’ll do our best to help you find a solution.

What if my order arrives incomplete, incorrect, damaged or defective?
We’ll work to resolve the problem immediately—simply contact us at for a quick response.

Can I send you photos?
Um, yes! We love to see photos of our readers! You can either email them to us directly or share them from your social media account using the hashtag #therealkc.
