Because The Real KC is all about supporting local, we want to let you know about an amazing Kansas City organization devoted to giving back, providing opportunities for at-risk women, and doing it all with a flare for style. A few words from the founder of Rightfully Sewn, Jennifer Lapka Pfeifer:
Rightfully Sewn is Kansas City's newest fashion-focused organization that has a vision of creating a contemporary version of Kansas City’s 20th-century golden era of garment design and manufacturing. Domestic garment manufacturing is re-emerging so Rightfully Sewn wants to be at the forefront of that trend in order to create seamstress jobs for at-risk women and opportunities for fashion designers in Kansas City.
Here is a quick video about Rightfully Sewn.
We are hosting our inaugural, annual "Giving Tuesday" fundraising event on Tuesday, November 29 from 6-9 pm at Finefolk, a lovely, locally-owned boutique in the Crossroads.
This event will benefit Rightfully Sewn's seamstress training and fashion designer residency programs. We will provide an update on our organizational progress and offer lovely food and refreshments, garment-making demonstrations, a jewelry raffle, and a live auction featuring highly-curated products from established local and regional fashion designers.
More information about the event and how to purchase tickets can be found here.
